While financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, Martell says the newly-formed entity, Atwood Energy Services Inc., will focus on renewable energy installations.
The business will initially focus on solar projects, as well as wind power and renewable energy storage systems. Martell says the business unit offers turnkey installation for the projects, including engineering, design and installation.
“We’re excited about this move into renewable energy in Iowa,” said John Martell, chief executive officer of Martell Services Group. “It’s truly about helping to further develop the renewable energy resources for the future.”
Norm Atwood, who is director of operations for Martell, also serves as president of Atwood Energy Services. Atwood currently employs 15 people and anticipates growing to 30 employees in the first year of operation.
“It was important to us that we partnered with an organization that shares our values, and we know that John Martell and his team will honor our legacy as they expand here,” said Atwood.
Martell says Atwood will continue providing services as an electrical contractor in its market area.
