The university says the gift allows for the launch of the Browning Scholars program, a full-tuition scholarship for future teachers enrolling in the Fred S. Klipsch Educators College.
Michael Browning is the founder of Browning Real Estate Partners.
Marian says the scholarship program will cover the entire tuition cost for 21st Century Scholar or Next Generation Hoosier Educator Scholar students who are pursuing degrees in education.
“My interest in Marian includes its mission to educate talented young people from middle and under-resourced families. Our family has been blessed being part of the Indianapolis community and the Browning Scholars program will enable more young people to have a great future through a better education with a special emphasis on future teachers,” said Michael Browning.
Marian says the Browning family scholarship will be available immediately to incoming freshmen beginning fall 2023. A total of ten students will be selected as Browning Scholars.
“The nation needs us to prepare diverse and talented students with the knowledge and skill to serve as teacher-leaders who inspire young people and make a difference in the schools and communities they serve. Continuing our fresh approach to teacher education, transforming schools throughout the United States is our top priority. The Browning Scholars Program goes a long way to making this goal a reality,” said LaTonya Turner, dean of the Fred S. Klipsch Educators College.
