Manufacturer to close Muncie facility, lay off 62 workers

North American Stamping Group, which is headquartered in Portland, Tennessee, said in a notice to the state that the closure will result in the layoffs of 62 employees.
The company, which operates a 158,000-square-foot manufacturing plant at 3401 W. 8th Street in Muncie, did not provide a reason for the closure.
The facility opened in 2009 and produces stamped metal parts and weldments with specific focus on the noise vibration and harshness market, as well as general stampings and assemblies for other industries, according to the company’s website.
North American Stamping Group did not respond to a request for more information from Inside INdiana Business.
In its WARN notice filed with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, the company said the layoffs will begin on Nov. 30 and are expected to be permanent.
The company said it will not be providing any separation benefits, and the workers are not represented by a union.
The Muncie facility is North American Stamping Group’s only location in Indiana. The company also has multiple operations in Tennessee and Ohio, as well as locations in Canada and Mexico.
