Bud’s Harley-Davidson, which opened in Evansville in 1965, has been sold to Evan Schipper, who owns several dealerships in the Midwest.
Bud’s Harley-Davidson was originally founded in Lawrenceburg by Bud Burnett, who later moved the dealership to Evansville. The dealership has been family-owned and operated by four generations and prior to the sale, was run by Burnett’s two granddaughters.
Owner Dawn Morand said in a news release the time was right to sell the business.
“After 63 years as a family-owned business, it was an emotional journey, and they were instrumental in finding the right buyer who shares in our family values and will continue the legacy Bud Burnett and our family have built in the community,” Morand said. “Now we’re off to start the next chapter with more business adventures and a lot more riding.”
Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.
Evan Schipper owns Harley-Davidson dealerships in Fort Wayne, Louisville, and St. Louis. Under his ownership, the dealership has been rebranded Evansville Harley-Davidson and will remain at its current location at 4700 East Morgan Avenue.
All employees at the dealership will remain in place following the sale.
