One Southern Indiana says the logistics company, along with Bridgeport Partners REIG LLC, will invest more than $16 million to build and equip a new facility in Jeffersonville and create up to 25 jobs.
John Higgins, CEO of Bluegrass Supply Chain and Bridgeport Partners, said the facility will serve as a state-of-the-art logistics center inside the Bridgeport Business Center.
“Supply chain management, logistics, and advanced innovation plays a critical role in the economic health and vibrancy of our country,” Higgins said in a news release. “This new facility positions us to combine the best of breed technology with integrated solutions to continue playing a key part in this vital area.”
1si, the economic development organization and chamber of commerce for Clark and Floyd counties, said the new jobs will come with an average hourly wage of $27.22, which is above the average hourly wage for Clark County.
The city of Jeffersonville has approved more than $1.3 million in tax abatements for the project over five years. The Indiana Economic Development Corp. is expanding the incentives it approved for the company’s 2018 expansion in the city.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Bluegrass Supply Chain Services on this project,” said Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore. “It’s yet another example of Jeffersonville’s vibrant business climate, and further evidence of our quality resident workforce in the area which supports economic growth across our region.”
It was not immediately clear when construction on the new facility would begin. Bluegrass Supply Chain and 1si did not respond to a request for more information by deadline Tuesday.
Bluegrass Supply Chain currently operates two additional facilities in the River Ridge Commerce Center in Jeffersonville and Charlestown. The company employs a total of 90 full-time and 100 seasonal employees at the facilities.
