The $25 million facility handles prescription refill orders in support of about 160 Kroger pharmacies in Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee.
The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) announced plans in May 2021 to build the 58,000-square-foot facility in the commerce park. It replaces a smaller filling facility Kroger Health operated in Louisville.
The Jeffersonville location is one of four refill centers the company runs around the U.S. Kroger says the four facilities are capable of filling a combined 32 million prescriptions annually.
“Jeffersonville Central Fill is one more way Kroger Health will deliver the best care to our patients,” said Kroger Health President Colleen Lindholz. “By using this facility to fill prescriptions, our pharmacists will spend less time putting pills in bottles and more time doing what they love – providing expert care and outstanding customer service.”
The Indiana location employs 140 workers, but the company expects to grow staffing to 175 when the facility is fully operational.
