Irresistible Food Group Inc. is looking to invest an additional $54 million to build and equip a second facility at the site in Edinburgh.
Last December, the company announced plans for the 368,000-square-foot manufacturing plant near the Indiana Premium Outlets and create about 150 jobs.
The Greater Columbus Economic Development Corp. told the Bartholomew County Commissioners and Bartholomew County Council that the planned expansion would add 150 more jobs by 2027.
The council on Monday approved two 10-year tax abatement requests by Irresistible Food Group for the expansion, which would save the company an estimated $1.2 million in taxes. However, the company would still pay about $1.1 million in new property taxes.
The Republic reported that the jobs committed in the original facility plan would come with an average wage of $29.94 per hour. The EDC said the jobs created by the expansion would pay an average of $25.57 per hour.
A timeline for construction to begin on both facilities is not yet known.
