Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report the move mirrors the popular markets hosted at the distillery’s location in Three Oaks, Michigan.
The first Winter Market, set for Feb. 17 and 18, will feature more than 130 small businesses from throughout northwest Indiana and the Midwest, according to the publication.
Vendors will include makers, artisans and other entrepreneurs offering products such as gourmet foods, homemade personal care items, and handcrafted décor and jewelry.
Journeyman owner Bill Welter told The Times that the Valpo event will be larger than the ones hosted at Three Oaks, which typically have about 80 vendors.
“It’s a good way to get out in the winter and support local small businesses and artisans,” Welter said. “It grew by word of mouth. Many have their own followings, promote it on social media and draw more people out.”
The Winter Artisan Market will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day and is free and open to the public. The American Factory is located at 258 S Campbell St.
Journeyman opened the 140,000-square-foot campus at the former Anco windshield wiper factory last October with the Union Hall restaurant and three event spaces.
Welter told Inside INdiana Business in January that the second phase of the project, which will include a brewery and distillery, will open in March.
