IU Trustees Approve Rate Increase, Projects, Degrees

It includes a room and board increase, five new degrees and projects involving the Madam Walker Theatre near IUPUI and new housing on IU’s Bloomington campus.
The board approved a 2.3 percent increase for residence hall room rates at IU Bloomington for the 2018-2019 academic year. The school says the most common rate for room and board will increase just over two percent over the 2017-2018 academic year. Standard rooms on the Bloomington campus will increase $157 to $6,965.
Trustees approved several new degrees at various IU campuses. They include a Master of Liberal Studies online degree, a Master of Science in criminal justice online degree, a Master of Arts in English online degree, a Master of Science in health care management and a Bachelor of Arts in sociology.
The board gave the go-ahead for a previously-announced partnership with the Madam Walker Theatre Center in Indianapolis to refurbish and modernize the historic building. Indianapolis-based Lilly Endowment has announced more than $15 million in grants to support that project. Trustees also approved a new housing addition on the north side of the Bloomington campus.e north side of the Bloomington campus, between McNutt Quadrangle and Walnut Grove Avenue.
