The effort, known as Arts on Broadway, aims to provide state-of-the-art technology to the facility, which will include a 500-seat auditorium and 100-seat studio theater.
Ground was broken on the 126,000 square-foot facility last year. In addition to housing IU Northwest’s fine and performing arts programs, the building will be shared by Ivy Tech Community College. Ivy Tech will occupy 30 percent of the building for its science programs and a “one-stop shop” for enrollment and admission services.
"For more than 50 years, the rich talent that exists at IU Northwest has entertained and inspired audiences through stage performances, art exhibits and dance recitals," said IU Northwest Chancellor William Lowe. "With our new facilities, we can now can look ahead to strengthening and deepening our campus commitment to arts, culture and community."
The NiSource Charitable Foundation, an arm of NIPSCO, will match all donations for the initiative, up to $25,000.
The Arts and Sciences Building is expected to open in mid-2017. You can learn more about the Arts on Broadway initiative by clicking here.
