The university said Friday the center will focus on three pillars: student leadership training, executive education and public engagement and research.
IU says the center will “amplify existing initiatives and develop new programs” at the Indianapolis and Bloomington campuses.
Expanded leadership programs are being designed to bring experiential learning, research-driven insights, and professional development opportunities for students, faculty and community partners.
“We are thrilled to launch the Paul H. O’Neill Center for Leadership in Public Service,” said Siân Mooney, dean of the O’Neill School, in a news release. “This center will play a pivotal role in shaping tomorrow’s leaders who are dedicated to public service and committed to addressing the significant challenges facing our society.”
Funding for the center comes from a $30 million gift from O’Neill, an IU alumnus and former secretary of the U.S. Treasury.
