LifeLine’s new ambulance service, covering basic and advanced life support needs, was launched December 1 from its newly-refurbished facility on the city’s west side.
The 13,000 square-foot facility is located near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Along with supporting LifeLine’s new Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support services, the facility is outfitted with the latest training technology, including a simulated LifeLine ambulance, helicopter and intensive care unit. It also features a communications center and maintenance garage.
IU Health has initially added two ALS ambulances to its fleet of six helicopters and six Mobile Intensive Care Units. The new ambulances will extend care by providing inter-facility transfers for patients.
IU Health has offered its LifeLine service for over 35 years and says its ALS/BLS services will expand in the future to meet the needs of its facilities.
