The initiative is called seamless enrollment, and it allows students at the public school system in Fort Wayne to automatically be admitted to IU Fort Wayne if they have a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
IU Fort Wayne administrators say the program saves students looking to work in health care time and trouble of applying to the school.
“We’re honored to partner with FWCS to help removes the deadlines, fees, and other requirements that can often be significant obstacles to students who seek to make a difference in improving the health and wellbeing of our community,” said IU Fort Wayne chancellor Deborah Garrison in a press release.
IU’s campus in Fort Wayne focuses on health professions including nursing, medicine, dentistry and public health.
IU has piloted seamless enrollment initiatives for other of its campuses in the state. For example, students in Indianapolis Public Schools who earn a 3.0 GPA or higher are now automatically accepted into IU Indianapolis if they want to go there.
