The Fishers-based startup will use the funding to build out its app’s features, specifically a platform for care managers and patient advocates to securely connect with their patients and family caregivers. They also will seek communal partnerships to publicize their product.
Founded by alumni Jean Ross and Jim McIntosh in 2020, the app organizes health care data and allows users to document, organize and share information. The goal, the company said, is to allow caregivers to track health data and share that with their loved one’s care team and other family members.
“Part of the value that Primary Record brings will come from stopping redundancies and reducing costliness around healthcare because we don’t have access to someone’s medical records from another institution and must run tests again,” Ross said in the release. “The other part of the value will be in reducing the mental load on caregivers, who are primarily women, by putting the whole family on the platform so everyone is aware of what is happening or changing for the patient.”
Ross said she believes the app has the potential to reduce medical costs and make it easier for caregivers to manage their loved one’s health.
Primary Record was launched publicly Dec. 1, 2023. Earlier this week, Ross was nominated for the Rising Entrepreneur award in the 2024 TechPoint Mira Awards, honoring the best in tech in Indiana.
