Indy donut counties top healthiest in Indiana list

The annual rankings, created by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, organize data, evidence, guidance and examples to inform community leaders and improve health outcomes. The institution releases ranks for every state and its counties.
Indiana’s top healthiest counties are:
- Hamilton
- Hendricks
- Boone
- Hancock
- Warren
- Warrick
- Johnson
- Porter
- Dubois
- Carroll
Marion County falls near the bottom of the list at No. 86. Lake County comes in at No. 67, Allen is No. 47 and Vanderburgh is at No. 75. Scott County is the lowest-ranked in Indiana.
Boone County is celebrating its high ranking, saying the honor is a community effort.
“This achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of our community partners, healthcare professionals, and residents who have come together to prioritize health and well-being,” Boone County Commissioner Don Lawson said in a news release. “It is a testament to our commitment to creating a healthier, happier, and more vibrant Boone County.”
