News Release
Indianapolis, Ind. — Indy PopCon, a new convention that will be held in the Indianapolis Convention Center on May 30 – June 1, 2014, has formally announced ticket presales, promotional packages, and additional benefits will be made available through the popular crowd-funding website Kickstarter. The group hopes early sales will give them the option to open additional space within the convention center and nearly double the size of their first year con. In the first 8 hours of the Kickstarter, PopCon raised over $1,300 and is over 10% of the way towards reaching their goal of $12,000.
“Since our announcement, we've received a tremendous amount of encouragement and support, both locally and nationally, for the convention,” said Shawn Smith, Communications Director. “This campaign allows us to offer more exciting content, more space, more guests, and more events for the fans.” PopCon is currently expecting attendance of 10,000+ and currently has close to 100,000 square feet of space.
Kickstarter supporters will have options for a number of special, exclusive rewards and items. One promotion is a private class on how to draw Batman and comics, conducted by one of the more popular Batman artists over the years, Norm Breyfogle. Another promotion is an exclusive print created by David Reddick, an Indiana native and the lead artist behind The Legends of Bill webcomic. There are over 20 additional promotions available to Kickstarter supporters.
