Indy Ballet Lands Big Grant

Subscribe NowIndianapolis Ballet Inc. says its campaign to launch a professional ballet company in the city has taken a significant step forward. The Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation has awarded the organization a $500,000 grant to support the mission and work of Indianapolis Ballet.
In May, Indianapolis Ballet Inc. launched a capital campaign in hopes of raising $1.2 million by the end of the year. The ballet plans to debut at the Toby Theatre at the Indianapolis Museum of Art in early 2018.
Indianapolis Ballet Founding Artistic Director Victoria Lyras says the grant takes the organization a long way toward its goal of "providing a resident ballet company that will complete the cultural landscape of Indianapolis." The group plans to spend the rest of the year recruiting talent for its professional company and apprentice program.
