Bereave said Wednesday that it plans to use the funding to accelerate the co-development of its enterprise software with Bloomington-based Paragraph Venture Studio.
Paragraph, which launched earlier this year led the funding round that also included participation from Flywheel Fund and the IU Angel Network, both also based in Bloomington.
Bereave was founded in 2021 by Eli Linder, Keagan McGuire and Matt Tyner. The company hired Demandwell and Lessonly alum Justin Clifford as its CEO earlier this year.
The company said in a news release that it is working with Paragraph to create a platform that “empowers employers to deliver continuous, compassionate care that benefits both employees and the business.”
The platform offers employees support resources, including grief counseling, personal affairs management, assistance with estate and account closure, memorial planning, and guidance for returning to work after the death of a loved one.
“Working with Paragraph made so much sense,” Clifford said in the release. “They have deep startup and growth experience, technical expertise, and the compassion that makes them perfect partners for Bereave.”
A spokesperson for Bereave said while the pre-seed round closed with $750,000, the company could raise up to $1 million as discussions with additional investors are finalized.
Bereave was nominated for Startup of the Year at this year’s TechPoint Mira Awards, honoring the “Best in Tech” in Indiana.
