Over the last six months, the Omni Severin Hotel has undergone $24 million in renovations.
“We are really proud of the fact that the hotel has really been brought back to the glory of the 1920s—we were built in 1913,” General Manager Steve Quackenbush said. “Everything has been touched…it’s stunning. It feels like you’re in The Great Gatsby.”
All 424 guest rooms have new mattresses, furniture and décor. The Art Deco style honors the historic Indianapolis Union Station, which is located across the street.
“The hotel’s been a jewel of the city. I think for a very long time, people have [had] love affairs with this property, and we really wanted to make sure that when it was done, it was done right and to really bring back the glory that the hotel has been known for,” Quackenbush said.
Quackenbush spoke to Inside INdiana Business about the project’s nod to the history of the hotel and the city.
On the main level, the renovated Bar Cardinale is across the lobby from the 8th Notch Cafe and Market. The name refers to the highest speed setting on a train and features grab and go items as well as a sit-down menu.
“We have a curated menu of specialty cocktails that are a lot of fun. You’ll never find them anywhere else. They all have stories associated with them. I challenge you to talk to the bartenders and get some stories about where they came from and what they’re all about,” Quakenbush said. “In any Omni that you go to, it’s going to have a very different local flavor and that filters through both the rooms, the public spaces and the food.”
The Omni Severin also made upgrades to its Internet, HVAC and other systems.
