The 2023 FDMC 300 list ranks the companies based on 2022 sales information.
According to the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, harvesting, milling and manufacturing a variety of wood products is a $10.5 billion business for the state.
“This industry is an incredible asset for Indiana agriculture,” said Chris Gonso, ISDA’s Hardwood Program Manager. “Many of our Hoosier companies have been on the FDMC list for many years, which shows how strong this industry is for economic potential in the agricultural industry.”
Jasper-based MasterBrand Cabinets is the highest-ranked Hoosier company, coming in No. 3 overall. FDMC says the company generated an estimated $3.3 billion in 2022 sales volume. System-wide, it employs 14,000 people and operates 20 plants throughout the U.S. and Mexico. Five of the plants are in Indiana.
It manufactures stock, semi-custom and fully-custom kitchen and bath cabinets.
“MasterBrand is proud of its Indiana roots, which can be traced back nearly 70 years to Celestine, Indiana,” said Dave Banyard, President and CEO, MasterBrand. “As a company, our purpose is building great experiences together and that would not be possible without our dedicated associates who make beautiful, functional and unique cabinets every day.”
Four other Indiana firms rank among the top 35 companies, including Jasper-based Kimball International Inc. (Nasdaq: KBAL) at No. 23, Huntingburg-based OFS Brands Inc. is No. 31 and Goshen-based Genesis Products is No. 34.
Number 14 on the list is Iowa-based HNI Industries, which just last week acquired Kimball International in a deal valued at $485 million.
