The university says that SPOT: Cuts + Culture aims to cultivate belonging for a diverse array of students and give a sense of ownership for students of color to connect with peers, staff and the broader IWU community.
The SPOT will be a place for students to get haircuts, play games and more.
“We aim to provide mentorship, leadership, and spiritual growth, inspired by the openness found in barbershops,” IWU Executive Director of Intercultural and Global Office Mario Rangel said in a news release. “This space will also encourage campus connection, learning from diverse experiences, breaking communication barriers, and building a just and compassionate community.”
The SPOT is scheduled to open Oct. 16 and is located in Barnes Student Center 123. It will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
