Indiana State Teachers Association names new leader

Subscribe NowThe Indiana State Teachers Association has selected Nate Williams to serve as its next executive director, the union announced Tuesday. Williams most recently served as deputy director of the Community Schools and Extended Learning Bureau at the New Mexico Public Education Department.
The ISTA said Williams has previous union-related experience, serving as a UniServ director in Ohio and California, as well as director of collective bargaining and research for the Maine Education Association.
“I’m eager to join ISTA and collaborate with its passionate staff and members,” Williams said in a news release. “Together, we have a unique opportunity to drive the Association forward, making a lasting and meaningful impact on our profession and the future of public education in Indiana.”
Williams is not a stranger to Indiana, having previously lived in Lowell, South Bend, Fort Wayne, and Indianapolis, the union said.
He will begin his new role on Sept. 9.
