The two-time Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year, will become the new head coach at the University of South Florida.
Hannahs, a 1989 graduate of ISU, spent 11 seasons as head coach, earning a 355-214-1 record. He was inducted into the university’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010.
“Coach Hannahs’ dedication, leadership, and passion for the game have left an unforgettable mark on Indiana State’s baseball program and the University community,” ISU President Mike Godard said in a news release. “We are grateful for his remarkable contributions as a coach and ISU alum over the years, which have inspired our student-athletes to strive for excellence both on and off the field.”
During Hannahs’ tenure, the Sycamores advanced to the NCAA tournament five times, including the 2023 and 2024 seasons. The team advanced to the regional championship finals three times since 2019.
“Indiana State will always be home to me and my family,” Hannahs said. “I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to coach at my alma mater. The relationships that have been built with our players, staff, campus community, and the Wabash Valley made this a really difficult decision for Amy and I.”
The university said it will conduct a national search for Hannahs’ successor.
