Indiana sportsbooks record best month ever

Analysts with PlayIndiana.com report the state recorded $513.6 million in November, topping the previous single-month record of $500.1 million set in January 2022.
The November handle was a 19.5% increase over the previous month and generated $30.7 million in revenue for operators. The record total resulted in $2.9 million in taxes paid to the state.
DraftKings at Ameristar Casino in East Chicago had the highest total of sports wagers with just over $188 million.
Year-to-date, Indiana’s sportsbooks have taken more than $3.8 billion in bets, putting the state on pace to surpass the $4 billion mark for the entire year.
Meanwhile, Indiana’s 12 casinos reported $177.4 million in revenue for November, about $2.8 million more than the previous month. However, last month’s total is still 3.7% lower than the same month last year, marking the eighth-consecutive month of year-over-year declines.
Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana in Gary continues to be the top performing casino for Indiana with $34.8 million in revenue in November. Ameristar Casino saw the biggest revenue drop off, falling 13.7% compared to November 2022.
PlayIndiana says Indiana’s casino industry has momentum heading into 2024 with the planned opening of the Terre Haute Casino Resort in the spring and the anticipated completion of a $40 million expansion at Harrah’s Hoosier Park in Anderson.
