Shawn McCoy will oversee board meetings and help set the association’s priorities, the association said.
“Shawn has been an integral member of IHA’s board since 2017 and understands the critical issues facing hospitals and the patients they serve,” association President Scott Tittle said in a news release. “I look forward to working under Shawn’s leadership in the coming year as we help Indiana’s hospitals navigate those issues and the ever-changing health care landscape.”
McCoy has worked at Deaconess for more than 30 years in a variety of roles, including vice president of facilities and ancillary services, chief operating officer and, since 2017, chief executive officer. Under his leadership, Deaconess has grown to 15 hospitals serving Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky, the news release said.
“It’s an honor to be elected as IHA board chair for 2025,” McCoy said. “Strong communities depend on strong hospitals, and we have an opportunity to strengthen both by protecting access to high-quality care that’s affordable and close to home, especially for Hoosiers in rural communities.”
The association represents more than 170 acute care, critical access, behavioral health and other specialized hospitals in Indiana. Among its legislative priorities this year is an increase in the state’s Medicaid reimbursement for hospitals, which has remained the same since 1991, the association said.
McCoy earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial management from Purdue University and a master’s of business administration from Indiana University.
