Indiana Historical Society unveils 2024 Indiana Living Legends

The four honorees are being recognized “for their local, statewide and national accomplishments in a variety of areas and disciplines.”
This year’s honorees were chosen by a selection committee comprised of civic and corporate leaders. They will be honored at an annual gala on Aug. 16 at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center in downtown Indianapolis.
The 2024 Living Legends are:
- Sue Ellspermann: President of Ivy Tech Community College, who earlier this month announced plans to retire in 2025.
- Miriam Acevedo Davis: President and CEO of La Plaza, Inc., an Indianapolis-based not-for-profit organization that provides essential health, social services and workforce development programs for Latino families and education programs for Latino youth.
- John Thompson: Chairman and CEO of Thompson Distribution Co. Inc. in Indianapolis, a well as First Electric Supply Co. LLC, CMID, and BC Countertops.
- Gary Reynolds: The second-generation owner of Reynolds Farm Equipment in Noblesville.
Additionally, the Indiana Historical Society announced this week that the deadline to submit applications for the 2024-2025 state historical marker cycle is July 18.
The organization said topics for consideration “must demonstrate statewide or national significance and be supported with primary source documentation.” You can learn more about the application process by clicking here.
