Indiana Dunes Tourism grants focus on Porter County

Subscribe NowIndiana Dunes Tourism has awarded nearly $50,000 to several businesses and organizations in Porter County. The funding aims to support community projects, marketing initiatives and unique events to attract new and repeat visitors to the county.
The organization said in a news release that the goal of the grants are to entice visitors to extend their stay “through the creation and promotion of attractions, marketing programs and product development initiatives.”
The businesses and organizations received either $5,000 for community development projects such as new attractions, facilities or tourism amenities; $2,500 for events such as conventions, sports tournaments or festivals; or $2,500 for marketing efforts.
The grant recipients are:

- Dig the Dunes LLC
- Duneland Bike-n-Bar LLC
- Ewalt Jahnz Porter County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #165 Inc.
- Humane Indiana
- Indiana Audubon Society
- Izaak Walton League of America’s Porter County Chapter
- Le Tour de Shore LLC
- Leons Heroes
- Northwest Indiana Junior Golf Association
- Northwest Indiana Paddling Association
- Portage Parks
- Porter County Aging and Community Services
- The Market on 12
“This is what tourism is about,” Scott Tuft, an Indiana Dunes Tourism board member serving on the grant committee, said in a news release. “It’s about improving this place we call home. Our job is to help visitors appreciate our destination and to help locals understand the value of what tourism can do for them, their businesses and their communities.”
Indiana Dunes Tourism said information about grants for 2025 will be available this fall.
