Indiana Department of Insurance commissioner to step down

Beard was appointed to the position in June 2021 after serving as general counsel for the department since 2017.
The governor’s office said during Beard’s tenure, the department launched its All Payer Claims Database website, added 11 domestic insurers in Indiana, created a team to regulate pharmacy benefit managers, and implemented a consumer complaint portal.
Beard’s last day as commissioner will be Oct. 15.
Holcomb has also selected IDOI Chief of Staff Holly Williams Lambert to succeed Beard. Lambert, who has been with the agency since 2011, will begin her new role Oct. 16.
