The Indianapolis-based organization is adding 95 seats to the training program, which will now accept a total of 120 business owners into its inaugural cohort.
The 10-week program, which is set to begin April 22, will feature training sessions focused on practical business skills that can be applied by small Black business owners.
IBE Chief Executive Officer Tanya Mckinzie said the organization received more than 100 applications within 72 hours.
“Without putting much effort into promoting the initiative, this response indicates that multiple efforts are needed to provide adequate training, education and technical assistance to small businesses to help them properly navigate the ecosystem, enhance their business management skills, and access capital and opportunities that exist within our state,” said Mckinzie. “IBE looks forward to partnering with other Black-led organizations, including the Indianapolis Urban League, Innopower, and the Indianapolis Black Chamber as well as Mid-States Minority Supplier Development to ensure that these businesses receive the support that they need.”
The nonprofit partnered with the Central Indiana Small Business Development Center to bring Jean Poole, CEO and founder of E Cubed Performance LLC in Anderson, to the program as a business advisor.
The IBE will host the inaugural cohort next Thursday at a welcome reception and orientation at its Indianapolis headquarters.
