Planned additions to the New Castle museum include new interactive exhibits and artifacts, administrative officers, a redesigned gift shop, event space and storage.
Ground breaking on the project has been a long time coming; Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame leadership first began planning for a $2.5 million expansion in 2018, but delayed moving forward to fundraise.
The museum raised $1.2 million after created a member management development position and completed a smaller renovation project to improve infrastructure, digital signage and exhibits.
In 2022, the museum launched its “Past & Present, Forever” campaign and received a grant of nearly $2 million from Henry County’s food and beverage tax fund. The museum’s director met with Indianapolis architecture firm Browning Day in 2023 to discuss expansion costs and the Hall of Fame’s directors approved a bid from Holladay Construction in September 2023.
The expansion is expected to open in late 2024. More information is available online at hoopshall.com.
