The deal was originally approved by Silver Creek members in November 2023.
Now that regulatory approval is in place, Indiana American Water says the deal is expected to close by mid-November.
President Matt Prine said in a news release that the acquisition is a natural fit as part of the utility’s southern Indiana operations.
“SCWC has been a valued wholesale water customer of Indiana American Water for years and our merged operations will continue to benefit the region’s growth and service reliability,” said Matt Prine, President of Indiana American Water. “We look forward to welcoming our new customers, along with a tremendous group of SCWC employees who will be joining our team.”
Silver Creek Water Corp. provides water service to about 8,000 customers and Clark and Floyd counties. The utility has nearly a dozen employees who are being retained through the acquisition.
Indiana American Water says once the deal closes, it will provide customers with a welcome kit that includes educational and other materials on their service, billing and other account details.
