The IEDC tells Inside INdiana Business the board will discuss the recommendations and make an announcement once a decision is finalized. Seven regions are vying for a place in the $84 million pilot program.
Regional Cities aims to boost quality of life and market portions of the state as regions to better compete on the global scene. More than 420 projects have been included in the various proposals. Leaders from each region made their pitches to the committee last month. They represent more than $3.75 billion in proposals from the central, east central, north central, northeast, northwest, southwest and west regions.
The program is funded with a recently-complete statewide tax amnesty initiative. It is aiming to stimulate at least $1 billion in joint private and public investment over the next decade.
