While in Israel, the Hoosier delegation met with executives from Doral Renewables, the Israeli company developing the $1.5 billion Mammoth Solar project in northwest Indiana.
“For us to partner on the largest solar farm in America to date is special, because it shows that we are a leader in that renewable energy transition,” said Holcomb, who expects the economic ties between Indiana and Israel to grow.
The Governor talked with Inside INdiana Business host Gerry Dick about the trade mission and an upcoming business event that he said everyone is talking about.
Indiana is the fourth largest goods exporter to Israel in the Midwest and the 19th largest in the U.S.
Additionally, Indiana exports more than $1 million worth of goods to Slovakia, including chemicals, computer and electronic products, machinery, petroleum and coal products, and transportation equipment.
Slovakia is also home to several Indiana businesses, including Evansville-based Berry Global Group Inc. (NYSE: BERY), Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly and Co. (NYSE: LLY) and Green Cubes Technology in Kokomo.
The trip was Holcomb’s tenth international economic development mission, his second trip to Slovakia and third to Israel as governor.
