The hospital, which will have a 24-hour emergency department, will be built where Beacon Medical Group is currently located.
Franciscan Beacon Hospital will include 28,000 square feet of new construction, along with about 19,000 square feet of renovations to the current building. The entire facility is expected to be 92,500 square feet and will include a 10-bed emergency department, eight inpatient beds, lab services and imaging equipment.
“This is going to be an incredible, high-quality option for hospital services and outpatient imaging in LaPorte County,” said Dean Mazzoni, Franciscan Health Michigan City president and CEO. “We intend to provide the citizens of LaPorte County excellent health care close to home.”
Franciscan Health doctors and specialists will join with Beacon Health physicians on the new $21.6 million campus.
