Groundbreaking set for Washington Commons project

Subscribe NowOfficials from the city of Washington and Daviess County will Thursday morning break ground on a $3.1 million project that developers say will help revitalize the downtown area. The Washington Commons project will create an outdoor gathering space that will include multiple pavilions and a performing arts stage.
According to our partners at WTWO, the Washington City Council provided $2 million, Daviess County Commissioners provided $750,000, and the Daviess Economic Development Corp. helped procure the balance.
Daviess County EDC Executive Director said residents were looking for a new venue to host community events, such as farmer’s markets, but also to beautify the downtown area.
