Forest Edge Apartments is being built at the site of a former train depot with the goal of increasing the population near the city’s center.
Plans for the project were first announced in August 2022. The project is being developed by Jeffersonville-based Denton Floyd Real Estate Group and will feature one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment units.
“We are excited about the opportunity to provide a vital housing option for the Charlestown community,” Denton Floyd co-founder and partner Brandon Denton said in a news release. “Charlestown has realized significant economic and job growth over the last five years, and we are excited to build a ‘best-in-class’ apartment community in the downtown area.”
Denton Floyd declined to provide financial details of its investment in the project.
Forest Edge will feature a variety of amenities, including a community clubhouse, heated pool, and EV charging stations. Construction is expected to take about two years to complete.
Executives from Denton Floyd will join Charlestown Mayor Treva Hodges for the groundbreaking ceremony, which is scheduled for 11 a.m.
