Subscribe NowLouisville-based Commonwealth Pain & Spine and Woodward Development & Construction in Newburgh broke ground Wednesday on a $6 million surgery center in Evansville. The pain management provider plans to add about 40 jobs when the project is complete.
The facility will be located at 6016 E. Columbia Street, adjacent to the existing Commonwealth Pain & Spine Evansville East office.
Commonwealth says the facility is the first of many planned state-of-the-art ambulatory surgical centers, or ASCs. The nearly 10,000-square-foot building will include two surgical suites.
“This new ASC will help us better meet the needs of our surgical patients with a facility and environment that is designed specifically for outpatient procedures,” said Dr. Nicolaus Winters with Commonwealth. “We are excited to begin this project and have a surgery center that improves access to safe, quality care.”
Site work is underway, and construction is slated to begin in full later this spring. The facility is expected to be open in early 2025.
“Surgery centers offer a seamless journey for patients, characterized by their smaller scale, ease of access, and exclusive focus on outpatient procedures,” said Janet Carlson, executive director of ASCs for Commonwealth. “This will be a one-stop shop with many patient-focused enhancements and the latest surgical technology.”
Commonwealth Pain & Spine also has locations Evansville, Vincennes, New Albany, and Jasper, as well as additional locations in Kentucky and Illinois.
