The company in January said it would invest $845 million in a data center project on the city’s southeast side and create about 30 jobs.
The project was first announced last October, but the company behind it was not revealed at that time. The campus will be located on about 900 acres of land and could have up to 12 buildings, the company said in January.
Tom Trent, an attorney representing the company told the Fort Wayne Common Council in December that the initial $845 million investment would support the construction of the first building on the campus. With additional buildings planned, that investment could grow to up to $4 billion, he said.
Google did not specify how much its additional investment would be ahead of a Friday news conference.
Gov. Eric Holcomb, U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.), Indiana Secretary of Commerce David Rosenberg and leadership from the city of Fort Wayne will be on hand for the announcement, which is scheduled for 10:45 a.m.
We’ll have more on the announcement in Friday’s INside Edge Midday Report newsletter.
