GM Suppliers Adding Hundreds of Jobs
Android and Avancez make components including consoles

(NYSE: GM) suppliers are expanding their Allen County operations with plans to create more than 300 jobs by the end of 2018. Michigan-based Android Industries and sister company Avancez say they will invest a total of nearly $15 million in the project.
Android Industries says the move will increase its capacity for making components including headliners, radiator modules and consoles. Android will expand its existing operation, while Avancez will establish a second facility less than one mile away.
Together, the companies employ more than 2,000 around the world, including more than 70 in Allen County. They plan to begin hiring assemblers, material coordinators, maintenance technicians, engineers and others next month. Construction and renovation are set to begin in October, with plans for the facilities to be up and running by July 2018.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. has offered Android Industries up to $2.2 million in conditional tax credits and training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. Northeast Indiana Works and the Allen County Council are working on additional incentives.
The companies say the expansion is the result of demand from new GM contracts. In January, the automaker announced plans to invest an additional $1 billion in its U.S. manufacturing operations. GM has major operations in Fort Wayne, Marion and Bedford.
