Atlanta-based PT Solutions is teaming with the Indiana University School of Health & Human Sciences in Indianapolis to offer the financial aid over the next three years to physical therapy students.
The gift will establish the PT Solutions Student Success Fund through the IU Foundation as well as four annual $15,000 scholarships, the university said in a news release.
The Student Success Fund will offer multiple $5,000 pre-enrollment scholarships, plus an additional $2,000 per year for student-focused initiatives. The $15,000 scholarships are for students who commit to working at PT Solutions for two years after they graduate.
“This collaboration contributes to health-care workforce expansion in Indiana, addressing regional shortages and subsequently ensuring ample job opportunities for our graduates,” Rafael Bahamonde, founding dean of the IU School of Health & Human Sciences, said in the release. “The gift and grant will foster a mutually beneficial ecosystem for education, workforce development and employment stability.”
Employment of physical therapists is projected to grow 15% from 2022 to 2032, much faster than the average for all occupations, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
“We want to be a partner in access to care,” Matthew Butler, director of strategic partnerships at PT Solutions, said of the motivation behind the gift. “So many people can’t get to their appointments, or appointments are not available. It’s important to have options for people.”
PT Solutions operates in 25 states, including Indiana.
