The Friends of Ernie Pyle Veterans Ride will raise funding for the Ernie Pyle World War II Museum in Dana.
The event will also kick off the 2016 season for the attraction, which is now owned by the Friends of Ernie Pyle Development Fund Inc. The nonprofit organization took possession of the World War II newsman’s birthplace and museum in 2009. Organizers say it is dedicated to "preserving the legacy of the preeminent World War II correspondent Ernie Pyle and the legacy of the generation he described in his columns – the generation that survived the Great Depression and won World War II."
Stops on the ride include American Legion Posts in Newport, Rockville, Rosedale, Clinton, St. Bernice and Paris, Illinois.
