Rich Reck, founding member and board chairman, said in a news release the expansion is needed since they are at full capacity with a waiting list. The expansion will increase the facility’s capacity from 16 to 32 beds.
The not-for-profit plans to hire another supervisor, therapist and part-time administrative assistant.
“Our Drug-Free Community status means the recovery homes awarded with unrestricted dollars will have the opportunity to double those gifts through matching grants,” said Lorra Archibald, committee chair and executive director of Healthy Communities of Clinton County, in the release. “Further proof that when we work together we can make a real difference in our community.”
The project is funded entirely by a Division of Mental Health and Addiction grant stemming from Indiana’s Opioid Settlement funding. Clinton County and the city of Frankfort organized a funding committee to disperse the more than $1 million being received through 2038.
Last year, the city and county received an award from the Indiana County Commissioners for their work in using the funding they’ve received from the state’s allocation of the National Opioid Settlement.
Funding for the recovery center was originally approved in 2019. The facility provides counseling and treatment for substance use disorder, as well as vocational training and job placement, relationship support and financial literacy training, among other services.
Construction on the expansion will start in February with the goal of completing the project by June 1.
