The Franciscan Alliance Board of Trustees has approved the investments, which will include modernizing the emergency department.
Renovation work of Franciscan Health Rensselaer will also include infrastructure and central plant equipment, some of which dates to the 1960s.
“As a rural area we are fortunate to have convenient, local access to a hospital and specialized healthcare services. This update sets the stage for Jasper County to remain self-sufficient and continue to improve quality of life with convenient access of medical needs, employment opportunities and model healthy living in a rural environment,” said Chad Pulver, board member of Franciscan Health Western Indiana.
The health system says it will hold a groundbreaking for the project at a future date. Franciscan Health operates 12 campuses, mostly throughout northwest Indiana.
