Franciscan Crown Point opens midwife center

Subscribe NowMishawaka-based Franciscan Health has opened a new center in Crown Point offering a variety of women health services, including deliveries performed by midwives. The Franciscan Physician Network Center for Midwifery Women’s Health features maternity services, menopause management, and wellness exams.
The midwifery center joins Franciscan’s portfolio of care options for expectant women and infants in Crown Point, including OB-GYNS, maternal fetal medicine specialists and specialized emergency obstetric care.
The Franciscan Physician Network Center for Midwifery is staffed by four certified nurse midwives.
The health system says the Indiana State Department of Health recertified Franciscan Health Crown Point’s Family Birth Center as a Level III obstetric and neonatal Level of Care facility.
Level III hospitals are equipped to care for complex maternal medical conditions and obstetric complications as well as infants requiring neonatal intensive care.
