The two-story, 82,881-square-foot building will be at 10323 Wicker Ave., the health care system said. The site, in northwest Indiana’s Lake County, is about a two-mile drive from an existing location at 10860 Maple Lane.
The new site is expected to open in late 2026.
“Franciscan Health has proudly served the St. John community and its residents for decades,” Franciscan Health Crown Point President and CEO Daniel McCormick said in the news release. “With this exciting new project, we are eager to enhance patient access by providing a convenient location that houses multiple services, further supporting our regional healthcare approach.”
The new health center, built by Tonn and Blank Construction, will house an ExpressCare, primary care, specialty physician offices, diagnostic imaging services such as MRIs and ultrasounds, and laboratory services, the news release said.
The amount of the investment was undisclosed, and a Franciscan representative said the impact on jobs is unclear at this time.
Franciscan Health will keep the Maple Lane location open, the company representative said, though most services there are expected to be consolidated eventually at the new Wicker Avenue site.
A similar-sized Franciscan Health medical office building broke ground last week in Valparaiso, Inside INdiana Business reported. The building is being constructed at the corner of State Roads 2 and 49 in the Porter County city. That health center also is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Franciscan Health is a 12-hospital health system that includes clinics, home health services and doctors serving Indiana and Illinois.
