Franciscan begins construction on Valpo medical building

As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowMishawaka-based Franciscan Health broke ground Tuesday on a new medical office building in Valparaiso. The health system declined to disclose its financial investment in the facility.
The two-story, 83,000-square-foot building is being constructed at the corner of State Roads 2 and 49 in the Porter County city.
It will house an ExpressCare, primary care and specialty physician offices, as well as diagnostic imaging, ultrasound and laboratory services.
“Franciscan Health has been serving Valparaiso and the surrounding communities for many years with ExpressCare, Working Well, diagnostic imaging, primary care and physician specialists,” Franciscan Health Michigan City CEO Dean Mazzoni said in a news release. “We are excited to be significantly expanding our presence in Valparaiso with this project. We will soon be offering increased access to high quality Franciscan services…in one convenient location.”
A spokesperson for Franciscan said in an email to Inside INdiana Business it is too early to estimate how many jobs would be created as a result of the project.
Construction is slated for completion by the end of 2026. The facility is being built by Michigan City-based Tonn and Blank Construction.
