Healthgrades is out with its annual list of America’s 250 Best Hospitals, and four Indiana hospitals are included. The health care review website evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals for overall clinical excellence based on patient outcome data for 31 conditions or procedures.

Healthgrades used Medicare inpatient data from the Medicare Provider Analysis and Review file purchased from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for years 2021 through 2023.

Hospitals must have had evaluations in at least 21 of the 31 procedures and conditions to be eligible for inclusion on the list.

The Indiana representatives on this year’s list, which is not a ranking, are Reid Health in Richmond, Franciscan Health Lafayette East, IU Health West Hospital in Avon, and Franciscan Health Indianapolis.

“To fulfill our mission to lead our communities to well-being, one person at a time requires a team that’s driven to provide the highest quality of care,” Reid Health CEO Craig Kinyon said in a news release. “This national recognition reflects what we’ve long known about our team’s unwavering commitment to exceptional patient care.”

One of last year’s Indiana honorees, Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, did not make the list this year.

Each Indiana hospital also earned individual awards for certain specialties. You can see those awards by clicking here.
