The $180 million Villages of Arneo project is a partnership between the city and local restauranteur and developer James Khan. Construction is going on along North Clinton Street between Brooks and Wallen roads.
“As we work to provide an enhanced quality of life for all residents in Fort Wayne, the Arneo mixed-use development will be a unique offering that positions our community for future growth and success,” Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker said in a press release. “This project exemplifies the importance of entrepreneurship and having local business leaders being willing to make meaningful investments that will have a lasting impact.”
The development will total 240,000 square feet of mixed-use residential and commercial space. Buildings within Arneo Village will be multiple stories tall and feature ground-floor amenities like sit-down restaurants, a coffee shop, lifestyle fitness center, mini market, and pickleball courts. There will be 240 apartments and 60 townhomes.
In addition, crews are building 2.5 miles of additional walking trails along the nearby St. Joseph River.
Khan first proposed the project in 2021 and in 2023, the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission voted to create a TIF district to help finance improvements for the construction.
