The money stems from the federal discretionary funds from the Bus and Bus Facilities program from President Joe Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
The project totals around $2 million and will also use $400,000 from the CARES Act disbursement and $320,000 of local matching funds.
“It’s great to see the community come together to prioritized increased investments in public transportation,” General Manager and CEO John Metzinger said.
The vehicle storage facility’s 39-year-old roof will be redone, and an above-ground biodiesel and gas storage area will replace its previous 40-year-old underground tanks.
Construction is estimated to be completed by summer 2024.
