Former WNBA Star to Give Franklin Commencement Speech

Subscribe NowFour-time Olympic gold medalist and Hall of Fame basketball player Tamika Catchings will speak to graduates of Franklin College in May. Catchings is scheduled to give the commencement at May 19 in Spurlock Center Gymnasium on campus.
Catchings played 16 years in the WNBA and is the league’s second all-time leading scorer and top rebounder. She serves as director of player programs and development for Pacers Sports and Entertainment, which works with the Pacers, Fever and Fort Wayne Mad Ants, and is a college basketball analyst on ESPN. Catchings also owns and operates Tea’s Me Cafe in downtown Indianapolis, and also runs the Catch The Stars foundation, which focuses on helping kids with fitness, literacy and goal-setting, as well as providing scholarships.
Catchings will also receive an honorary doctorate of humane letters from the college. Tickets are required to attend the commencement, with doors opening at 9am. A full schedule of events can be found here.
